No One Is Better Than You.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde

There is only one of you in the entire world. One person with the same story, experiences, strengths and passions as you.

What People Are Saying

What people say

"This book is like having your own, personal life coach"

It is a vibrant call to be true to yourself. To redefine your concept of success so that, in being the you that you are meant to be, you ensure greater success than your original definition allowed for. Look forward to facing the day, enjoy your job, make wise decisions, be the real you. It’s almost a chatty book, written to speak to you not to preach to you. It’s full of ideas and examples – supremely practical. There are very helpful summaries at the end of each chapter, and there's a workbook; a guide to making it happen, so you're not just reading about making it happen! The authors experience in coaching and mentoring others, and his expertise in the subject, both shine through clearly. If you feel lost, demotivated, or that you’re getting nowhere in your life, or if you battle to find real enjoyment in what you do, then this book is for you.

Comforting and challenging at the same time

This book gives the reader a lot to think about. There's a comfort that comes from acknowledging that we are all on a journey to live out our lives in a meaningful, purposeful way - however that is defined for each of us. There is also an inherent challenge in figuring out what that purpose may be. The author offers a great deal of background and context to start the journey of figuring it all out. We are living in a time when we each need to be our very best selves, so this book is an important one. The text is well-organized and in-depth. But what really stands out is the author's voice. Reading this book feels like a conversation with the author more than it does a textbook.

A MUST READ if you want positive change!!!

A MUST READ for anyone who has every asked out loud the question, "What is wrong with this world?" Ryan Lui dives deep into the habits and actions that have shaped the cultures and societies we live in today. The great news is he doesn't stop there he walks you through what we all wrestle with after we ask the question above, "What is my purpose? How can I make a difference in this crazy world?" He methodically and tenaciously peels back the layers that we need to unlearn about ourselves in order for us to realize that the change has to start in each of us. Ryan, does a great job of utilizing both historical and modern references to tie every message together letting it all sink in to the readers head. If I can walk away with a couple of nuggets after reading a book then it was well worth the price. Ryan surpassed that expectation in almost every chapter. I would highly recommend having a notebook handy when reading this book as there will be many points when reading you will want to write a key point down to take action on later. This is a book the world needs more than every with all that is going on. The best thing you can do for yourself is read this book. The best thing you can do for the rest of us is pass it on.

My background is in the social sciences. I often self-reflect and I've been told me quite self-aware. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first decided to have a go at this book (I listened to the audio version). Listening to this book filled me uplifting, hopeful feels. The same kind of feels you get if you ever saw the movie "Love Actually". It gives you hope for change and a desire for a better tomorrow. In Being>Doing, Ryan Lui builds the essential frameworks of how to live your life if you want to pursue a life full of meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. He knits this book together with personal anecdotes and peppers it with pop cultural references. It includes some of my favorite psych theories as well as once I haven't heard of before. Even as I often self-reflect on my life, this book gave me a much needed reminder of things I often forget - like false beliefs I tend to tell myself which are quite toxic to my life. Or why do I do the things I do? This book raised some important questions. While this book is a great starter towards understanding yourself and building positivity in your life, I feel like this book could use some practical, actionable tips on how to achieve that. Maybe time for a sequel Being>Doing 2.0?
